Silva vs. Maia is the scheduled middleweight Championship bout for UFC 112: Invincible. Anderson Silva is the defending champ and will bring his impressive 25-4 record into the match. 15 of the wins for Silva have come by knockout.

Silva hasn't fought since he knocked out Forrest Griffin at UFC 101: Declaration back in August of 2009. five of his last seven fights, in fact, have ended with a KO or TKO.

If Silva is the Knockout King of Middleweight, then Maia is the submission master.  He’s 12-1 with eight fights ending at submission. His latest win came February of this year when Maia knocked off Dan Miller by decision after five rounds in UFC 109: Relentless.

Will Silva vs. Maia live up to expectations? It's certainly one of the fights people are looking forward to in UFC 112: Invincible. The once undefeated Maia lost by knockout to Nate Marquardt in August or else he would have entered this fight undefeated. Marquardt, though, lost to Silva by knockout in July 2007.

Does this automatically mean that Silva will get the best of Maia with a first round knockout? You have to remember that Maia has had a lot of success excluding his only loss to Marquardt. Maia will have to stay away from Silva early and avoid a first round knockout if he wants to remain competitive in this Middleweight Championship fight.

Silva hasn't been an easy opponent for anyone to deal with. Silva is riding a 10 fight win streak entering UFC 112--the longest such current streak in the competitive UFC.

Vitor Belfort was originally scheduled for this fight before a shoulder injury pushed him aside and made way for Maia.
