Lesnar vs Carwin shapes up as the premier event on the UFC calendar this summer.  Fans who've been waiting to see if it's the same old, dominating Lesnar who enters the octagon Saturday night.

It's actually a battle between a couple of athletes who competed at a fairly high level in other sports at the college level. Carwin is a former star linebacker at Western State College, a Division II school in Colorado.

Lengthy layoffs can be tricky business in sports.  A step can be lost over time.  A punch can come a millisecond slower.  Yet Lesnar vs Carwin coming so long after his last bout  means Lesnar has  had plenty of time to prepare for his comeback fight.  He's rested.  It's not likely he's experiencing any injury issues.

And he's probably hungry to go on the attack again.

Lesnar certainly seemed relaxed when TMZ caught up to him just a couple of days before the bout.  In sort of an ambush interview situation, Lesnar chatted amiably with the man behind the camera, saying he didn't feel he was risking his life against Carwin.  "He's risking his life," Lesar replied.

When asked about Batista leaving the WWE for MMA and whether he'd like to fight him, the always-confident Lesnar responded "I'd fight him.  I don't think he'd wanna fight me."

As for UFC 116, the weigh in results are official.  Lesnar vs Carwin will be a battle of 265 pound UFC giants.  It should be more than entertaining.

The Lesnar vs Carwin bout is the headliner but the middleweight event between between Yoshihiro Akiyama and Chris Leben is also a big one.  The action airs live on Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
