UFC is vastly different than pro wrestling but it can’t be denied there are a few roots in the WWE and that’s why Brock Lesnar Goldberg is the one topic UFC fans sometimes discuss.  Talk about your epic battles and taunts!

One good turn deserves another. That's why Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg deserved what happened in Wrestlemania XX.  The event  finally featured what was supposed to be a major battle between the two giant personalities. This came after the two exchanged taunts and cost one another possible titles in their own respective individual matches.

In Wrestlemania XX, the referee was none other than Steve Austin. The WWE fight didn't live up to expectations. In fact, some fans were booing as Lesnar neared the end of his WWE contract.  Goldberg did eventually win the battle that didn't live up to any of the hype.

The event took place at Madison Square Garden in New York on March 24, 2004. To understand what happened in the ring, it's important to look at the history of the two. Wrestlemania XX was the finality of some heavy trash talking and disturbances in the ring and out between the two.

Brock Lesnar had interrupted a Bill Goldberg interview during a backstage interview at one event. Later, Lesnar would interfere with Goldberg during the Royal Rumble. Lesnar landed an F-5 and allowed Kurt Angle to eliminate Goldberg from the competition. Goldberg then confronted Lesnar at No Way Out.

Goldberg returned the favor by executing a Jackhammer on Lesnar. Goldberg was then arrested.

Still, the damage was done and Lesnar lost the WWE Title.

At the time, it was well known that  Lesnar had NFL hopes.  A tryout followed but those dreams never became a reality.  He saw some pre-season action and was offered a job with NFL Europe but turned it down. Bill Goldberg also finished his career listening to fans boo at what was viewed as a sub-par match.

The Brock Lesnar Goldberg battle was supposed to be a dream match. It was anything but and Lesnar needed a new start—one he’d get in the UFC.
