Could Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin III be in the works? Franklin appeared back to form in UFC 103. That performance has MMA fans wondering if Franklin and Silva might be game for a third meeting.

Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin have met twice already in historic UFC battles. Silva got the best of Franklin on October 14, 2006 winning by knockout in UFC 64:Unstoppable. The bout was for the UFC Middleweight Championship in Las Vegas. Franklin was holding the title at the time but went down at 2:59 of the first round.

Silva vs. Franklin part two didn't occur until just over one year later. This time Franklin and Silva met for the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 77: Hostile Territory. The second match ended in almost the same results. Silva earned victory with a second round TKO this time around.

Rich Franklin has just 5 losses on his resume. His 26-5 record includes those two losses to Anderson Silva.

Franklin has been on a roll once again. His latest victory was over Vitor Belfort back in September of 2009. Would the two meet again for another UFC Middleweight Title bout? It would mark the third such meeting if Silva and Franklin could come to terms.

Skeptics might say Silva has nothing to gain in a fight like this. He has already proven he can consistently put Franklin down so why would he agree to a third and final fight?

Franklin has everything to gain including a Middleweight Championship that he had taken away by Silva. Silva currently has other things to worry about with another UFC Middleweight Championship bout in April against Demian Maia.

For those wanting another Rich Franklin vs. Anderson Silva match-you'll have to wait your turn. If Silva beat Maia, expect talks to heat up about another possible Silva vs. Franklin bout.
